toowoomba mens toilet

The Toowoomba Men's Toilet was built in 1918 when the need for an adequate public sanitation system became a pressing concern.

Located in Russell Street close to the busy Toowoomba Railway Station, it was only connected to a drain until a sewerage system was established in 1926.

It is the longest known established public toilet in Queensland.

Due to the unsound overall condition of the toilet building and upgrades to the surrounding vicinity, the toilet was dismantled in 2013 and rebuilt brick by brick in 2015, but is no longer functional or connected to the sewerage system.

Listing on the Queensland Heritage Register took place on the 6th of June 1994.
