Smithfield House like the exchange building was designed by architect James Marks & Son sometime around 1895 for business man and politician James Taylor A.K.A 'the King of Toowoomba'.
Built of local blue-stone for the foundation and imported sandstone for the rest of the the building it consists of a single story.
Located at 8 Panda Street in the suburb of Harristown, the house was heritage listed on the Queensland Heritage Register on the 21st October 1992
